Police break up party with 100 attendees

Police in Monroe County broke up a loud party with more than 100 attendees last week, after witnesses reported hearing gunfire outside.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police announced charges Monday against an 18-year-old man who tried to hide marijuana from them after they raided the party.The alleged incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Dec. 24 at a home on Wild Laurel Drive in the Emerald Lakes Development. The development is located in Tunkhannock Township.Police were dispatched after witnesses heard possible gunshots coming from a large party at the home.When they arrived, police found more than 100 people in and around the home partying.During a subsequent search, police found numerous containers of alcohol in the house.Also during the search, an 18-year-old man attempted to hide marijuana and paraphernalia.The 18-year-old, identified as Rodney Pierre, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, underage possession of alcohol, and disorderly conduct.Police did not say whether any other party-goers would face charges. No further details were available.
