Man killed in Monroe crash on Christmas

Authorities have identified an 18-year-old man who was killed in a crash in Monroe County on Christmas Day.

Alejandro Santos, 18, of Stroudsburg, was pronounced dead at Pocono Medical Center Friday evening, as a result of injuries he sustained in a two-car crash in Tobyhanna Township. The county coroner identified him Monday.Around 5 p.m. on Friday, Christmas Day, police responded to a crash at the intersection of Route 940 and Long Pond Road.While the crash is still under investigation, police released some details about the wreck Monday. According to police, a red sedan in which Santos was a passenger attempted to make a left turn onto Long Pond Road from the westbound lanes of Route 940. While negotiating the turn, the sedan was struck on the passenger side by a pickup truck traveling eastbound on Route 940.The collision caused Santos to become entrapped in the car.Authorities identified the driver of the sedan as 20-year-old Alaysia English of Long Pond. The pickup driver was identified as 33-year-old Frank May of Pocono Summit.Crews extricated Santos from the vehicle and transported him to Pocono Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 6:15 p.m.A forensic autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, according to Monroe County Coroner Bob Allen.
