Rush Township police have provided an update late Friday regarding a retail theft investigation.
Police said Joseph Etherington, 33, of Pottsville and Brian Kehl, 32, of Lansford, were caught stealing merchandise at the Walmart Super Center at HT Commons Shopping Center, Hometown, on 3:58 p.m. on Dec. 8.
Both men ran away but were apprehended with assistance from Tamaqua and Kline Township police.
Both men are being charged with retail theft, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said Kehl misidentified himself by providing authorities with the name of his brother.
An investigation revealed Kehl's true identity and the fact that he is wanted for a state parole violation.
Police said Kehl now will face an additional charge of providing false identification to authorities.
