Keystone Karate takes honors in regional competitions

A local martial arts school continues to nab accolades as if they're going out of style.

Keystone Karate in Lehighton took honors in a trio of competitions held recently.The competitions included the 2015 International Martial Arts Games Oct. 9-10 at the Kalahari Resorts in the Pocono Mountains; Fall Brawl Sept. 26 in Altoona; and the Keystone State Martial Arts Championships Aug. 22 at the Pyramid Sports Performance Center, Lehighton.In all, the martial arts school had 20 competitors garner over 20 World Titles.Students• Caroline Metro, first and runner-up in the Keystone State Martial Arts Championships; two runners-up in 2015 International Martial Arts Games• Ayden Hand, first and second in the Keystone State Martial Arts Championships; second and runner-up at Fall Brawl• Autumn Sittler, two firsts and one fourth in the Keystone State Martial Arts Championships; one second, two thirds, one runner-up at Fall Brawl; two seconds and one third at the 2015 International Martial Arts Games• Ella Sittler, first, second, and third in the Keystone State Martial Arts Championships; first, second, third, fourth at Fall Brawl; three seconds, one third and one runner-up at the 2015 International Martial Arts Games• Sean Wall, two seconds, one third, and one fourth in the Keystone State Martial Arts Championships; one first, three runners-up at Fall Brawl• Aiden Kromer, two seconds, one third in the Keystone State Martial Arts Championships; two seconds and two thirds at Fall Brawl; third and runner-up at the 2015 International Martial Arts Games• Shoshana Gieniec, second and third in the Keystone State Martial Arts Championships; second and third at the 2015 International Martial Arts Games• Makayla Scott, two firsts and one third in the Keystone State Martial Arts Championships; three seconds and two thirds at Fall Brawl; two firsts and three seconds at the 2015 International Martial Arts Games• Rachel Gruber, first and third in the Keystone State Martial Arts Championships; two firsts, one second, and two thirds at Fall Brawl; first, second, and two thirds at the 105 International Martial Arts Games• Alexa Scheirer, first and runner-up in the Keystone State Martial Arts Championships; two seconds and one fifth at Fall Brawl; two thirds and three fourths at the 2015 International Martial Arts Games• Sierra Scheirer, first and runner-up in the Keystone State Martial Arts Championships; two firsts and one fourth at Fall Brawl; four firsts and one third at the 2015 International Martial Arts Games• Ricky Bower, two runners-up in the Keystone State Martial Arts Championships• Nathan Zhu, third at the 2015 International Martial Arts GamesAdults• Wilmer Everetts, two firsts and one third in the Keystone State Martial Arts Championships; two firsts at the 2015 International Martial Arts Games• Jocelyn Hafer, three firsts and one second in the Keystone State Martial Arts Championships; one second and two fourths at the 2015 International Martial Arts Games• Dave Scott, first at Fall Brawl; two firsts one second at the 2015 International Martial Arts Games• SaCory Stewart, one first, two thirds at the 2015 International Martial Arts Games• John Solt, third at the 2015 International Martial Arts Games• Devon Robinson, first, second and third at the 2015 International Martial Arts Games• Scott Kromer, one first, two seconds in the Keystone State Martial Arts Championships; one first, two seconds at Fall Brawl; three firsts at the 2015 International Martial Arts Games• Dave Liebhaber, first in the Keystone State Martial Arts Championships; second and third at the 2015 International Martial Arts Games• Timothy Hillanbrand, first at the 2015 International Martial Arts GamesOther• Scott received Instructor of the Year for 2015• Shannon Smith received Assistant Instructor of the Year for 2015• Scott also mentioned its six sponsors, the Old Tyme Corner Store on Seventh Street in Lehighton, The Sons of the American Legion, Forest Inn Masonry, Pizza Como USA, Pyramid Sports Performance Center, and Kathryn Liebhaber Family Law.
