A Carbon County man was sentenced to a county prison term on Friday on a drug possession charge.

Eric J. Pauloski, 34, of Albrightsville, was sentenced by Judge Joseph J. Matika to serve 9 to 18 months in prison. Pauloski previously pleaded to the charge.Pauloski was arrested on June 25 by Kidder Township police for an incident in the area of 21 Pine Brook Drive in Holiday Pocono. Found were 34 packets of heroin.Defense attorney Matthew Mottola of the public defenders office said Pauloski has a serious drug addiction problem. He said the defendant had gone through four inpatient drug rehabilitation programs, the longest was 90 days.Matika said a pre-sentence report indicated a "lot of good" in Pauloski's life, but that the drug addiction has a negative affect on his life.Matika ruled the jail term will be followed by 18 months of probation. He also ordered Pauloski to get both drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations, zero tolerance on drug and alcohol use, render 75 hours of community service when released on parole, pay court costs of about $1,000, and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole or probation.Pauloski is currently being held in the county prison on a detainer filed for a probation violation so he did not receive a credit for the sentence imposed.
