A number of defendants scheduled to have preliminary hearings before District Judge Stephen Bayer of Tamaqua on Nov. 10 had their charges dismissed. They include:

Marissa Garcia, 22, of 39 W. Spruce St., Mahanoy City. She was charged with retail theft and conspiracy to commit retail theft by Rush Township police after a June 25 incident;Dianne L. Ontineros, 62, of 509 Lombard St., Tamaqua, was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and careless driving after a July 24 incident in Tamaqua;Jesamin Medina-Castro, 31, of 400 Hazle St., Tamaqua, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without a license and failure to keep right after a July 25 incident in Rush Township;Amy S. Burns, 34, of 158 Padua St., Nesquehoning, was charged with DUI of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, endangering the welfare of children, hit-and-run and careless driving. The charges were filed by Rush Township police after an Oct. 31, 2014, crash;George Michael Cope, 29, of 510 E. Elm St., Tamaqua, was charged with possession of a controlled substance after a July 3, 2014, incident in Tamaqua.
