Rush Township residents might have been given an early Christmas gift on Thursday.

There was no formal announcement, but indications are that the line will be held on taxes for the new year.Board Chairman Shawn Gilbert said the 2016 budget at this point calls for no tax increase and, similarly, no increases in the sewer or garbage rates.The board agreed to advertise the budget for public review for 20 days beginning Monday.In other matters, the board approved a motion to accept a request from Captain Merle Wertman of Tamaqua, captain of Hometown Fire Police, for three new badges for new fire police members.The board authorized Supervisor Bob Leibensperger to execute an agreement with Doli Constructoin Corp. for construction of the Chestnut Street Sewer Project.The board approved an exemption request for placement of an on-lot septic system with a 45-foot absorption distance from the well to the septic located at 715 Fairview St.
