Four defendants who previously pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and a fifth who entered a plea were sentenced Monday afternoon in Carbon County court by Judge Steven R. Serfass.

Robert Francis Dreste III, 26, of Palmerton, pleaded to DUI. He was arrested on Aug. 8 along Delaware Avenue in Palmerton by state police at Lehighton. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.Dreste is currently serving a prison term in Monroe County on other charges. He is applying for placement in the state intermediate punishment program so sentencing was deferred.Donald Eugene Stepp Jr., 64, of Summit Hill, was arrested on Jan. 26, by Lehighton police.He was sentenced to serve 72 hours to 6 months in jail, a fine of $1,000, and a one-year license suspension. He will begin the jail term on Nov. 20 at 9 a.m.Nichlous Alexander Brogran, 21, of Palmerton, was arrested on Jan. 1 in the 400 block of Franklin Avenue.He was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300 and render 25 hours of community service.James Francis Murray, 36, of Jim Thorpe, was arrested on Feb. 6 along Broadway by Jim Thorpe police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.He was sentenced to serve 72 hours to 6 months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service. The jail term will begin at 9 a.m. on Nov. 27.Peter Blach Sickley Jr., 47, of Albrightsville, was arrested on May 22 along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test showed 0.10 BAC.He was sentenced to serve five days to six months in jail, a fine of $500, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service.He will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. on Dec. 2 and serve two days; Dec. 9 and serve two days; and Dec. 16 and serve one day.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
