Defendants entered guilty pleas this week before Carbon Judge Steven R. Serfass:

KristyLee Binder-Muffley, 33, of Weatherly, and formerly of Lehighton, pleaded guilty to one count each of persistent disorderly conduct and cruelty to animals.She was arrested on July 23 by Lehighton police responded to the area of 253 S. First St., for a report of a dog being tied on a short leash on a porch. The report indicated the dog was not being properly cared for.At the scene police found the dog and while conducting an investigation Binder-Muffley became unruly and caused a disturbance. She told Serfass at the time she was not "on my meds."On the conduct count Serfass placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to get a D&A evaluation and render 50 hours of community service. On the summary offense of cruelty to animals charge she was fined $300 and costs.Michael John Hickey Jr., 22, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count of unsworn falsification to authorities.He was arrested by state police at Fern Ridge for an incident at the Eastern Arms & Outfitters store located along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township. He attempted to buy a handgun and in filling out the required form he failed to note a prior criminal conviction.He was placed on probation for 9 months and ordered to render 35 hours of community service.Defendants sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000, and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
