Meet the Raiders
The Tamaqua Area School District's annual Winter Meet the Raiders Night will be held Dec. 2 in the district's athletic center. The evening will begin at 7 p.m.Members of the girls and boys basketball, wrestling and swim teams will be introduced, as well as the cheerleaders.The raider pep band will also be in attendance.The event is free. In case of inclement weather, the event will be rescheduled to Dec. 3.Tamaqua seniorsThe Tamaqua Senior Citizens met Nov. 12 with 57 members in attendance. President Melody Weicker conducted the business session and Ruthann Feane offered the invocation "Lord, You've Been Good to Me."Joan Wall was added to the sick list. The meeting included a celebration of Veterans Day, honoring Gus Schlorf, Pat Fredericks, Vern Balliet, Jim Sloboda and Ken Nunemacher.The next meeting will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 19, at the Tamaqua YMCA, 1201 E. Broad St.The group is open to anyone 55 or older and the YMCA is handicap accessible.Bethany ECThe Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. worship services this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Sunday school classes are held at 9:15 a.m.Also on Sunday, the global outreach commission will meet at 10:30 a.m.; the care and connection, Christian education, local outreach and operations commissions will meet at 11:45 a.m.Activities for next week include: Tuesday, prayer time at 8:30 a.m., Good News Club meets at 3:45 p.m. at the South Ward Playground; Wednesday, sew much more group meets at 1 p.m., Tamaqua Youth Ministry meets at 6 p.m., GriefShare meets at 7 p.m.Trinity dinnerTrinity United Church of Christ will host a free, community, spaghetti dinner and worship on Dec. 12.
