A Palmerton man who led police on a high-speed chase Friday night has been arrested in Virginia.

Jacob A. Taschler, 39, was apprehended Tuesday, according to a Facebook post from the Lehigh Township Police Department.Law enforcement officials had been asking for the public's help in finding Taschler since Friday's high-speed chase, during which he reportedly drove 100 mph and nearly caused several crashes by driving into oncoming traffic.Taschler, a felon, faces a long list of charges in connection with the chase. He also faces felony charges for a number of burglaries in the Palmerton area, which was the reason that police first attempted to pull him over Friday night.The chase, which started in Palmerton, crossed between several municipalities along routes 248 and 946 Friday evening.Taschler eventually crashed his car into a wooded area off Route 946 in Lehigh Township, but ran away and managed to elude capture.Taschler had been wanted on felony charges in connection with two separate burglaries that occurred in the last month. He was also out on bail awaiting a preliminary hearing in a third burglary.Taschler was previously convicted of child endangerment in 2012, along with his then-wife. They were found to have been negligent in the death of a 3-year-old daughter, who died of starvation.
