Four first-time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program Oct. 26 by Judge Steven R. Serfass.
If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record is wiped clean. However, if a person fails to complete the program, or is revoked from it, then they will face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.All were placed for a year.Holly Marie Guedes, 33, of Palmerton, was placed on a charge of theft. She was charged by Mahoning Township police for an incident on June 12.She was assessed $450 for the cost of the program and ordered to make restitution to the victim for $268 and render 50 hours of community service.Tracey Jannee Gursky, 49, of Lehighton, was placed on a driving under the influence charge. She was arrested on May 27 along Iron Street by Lehighton police. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.She was assessed $600 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and her license was suspended for 60 days.Gregory S. Kindt, 52, of Nazareth, was placed on a charge of incapable of safely operating a watercraft due to alcohol consumption. He was arrested on May 3 by park rangers at Beltzville Lake. He was operating a boat while under the influence, authorities said.He was assessed $500 and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, render 50 hours of community service and his boating license was suspended for six months.Kody Tyler Yandrisovitz, 20, of Bethlehem, was placed on a possession of marijuana charge. He was arrested on July 4 by Palmerton police in the 600 block of Alley East.He was assessed $450 and ordered to get a D&A evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
