Man cited for car leaking fuel

A car leaking fluids onto the street earned a Tamaqua man a citation on Oct. 19.

Police were dispatched to 619 Arlington St. at 5:41 p.m. after someone noticed oil leaking from a parked yellow Jetta. The oil flow was enough to make it across the street. A records check indicated the car is owned by Raymond Scott Morgan, 26, coming back to an address in Orwigsburg. The officer knocked on several doors in the area in an attempt to locate Morgan. Unable to locate the car's owner the officer called for a tow truck. When the tow truck arrived Morgan came out of the house at 613 Arlington St., upset that he hadn't been contacted before the tow truck was called. The officer explained that he tried to find the owner, but Morgan remained upset, saying he was going to contact state police about the incident. The tow truck driver told the officer he was familiar with the Jetta, having towed it from Route 209 to Mountain Avenue about one week earlier.Morgan was cited for allowing hazardous material to leak onto the roadway.
