At Tuesday's Franklin Township Board of Supervisors meeting, bids were received from two prospective contractors in response to advertised bids to replace install a roof over the Public Works and Police Departments.
Two bid proposals were received. F.L. Lesher Contracting bid $77,958, and Service Team submitted a bid for $86,380. The supervisors approved receipt of both bids. On a motion made by Supervisor Robin Cressley, and unanimously approved, the bid was awarded to F.L. Lesher Contracting, pending completion of all required paperwork.At the start of the meeting, Jennifer Hunsicker of the Carbon County Planning and Development Office conducted a second public hearing for the 2015 Community Development Block Grant funds program. Franklin Township is applying for a total of $83,735.This sum equals approximately $68,663 for project costs and $15,072 for administrative costs.The project selected for 2015 is a streets improvement project. This will be a continuation of 2014 projects as well. The improvements will be made to State Road, from Route 248 to just beyond Union Hill Road. Additionally, over the next three years Franklin Township plans to make improvements to State Road and Rock Road with CDBG funding.In other news, Larry Williams, representing the Pohopoco Rod and Gun Club, presented a proposal to have a bench placed in the area of the ice dam at Phifer's field in honor and memory of Larry Ahner. The Rod and Gun Club would fund the cost of the project. This project was approved, and Williams said it will most likely take place in the spring.Secretary Brenda Neeb said that due to Veterans Day, garbage collection will be changed to Nov. 12. The supervisors unanimously approved township trick or treat night for Oct. 28 from 6-8 p.m.
