A Hazleton woman who sold heroin to a police informant faces five drug-related charges after she was arrested Oct. 1 in Nesquehoning.
Juanita Gonzalez, 39, of East Chestnut Street, remains incarcerated at Carbon County Prison in lieu of $40,000 cash bail following her arraignment in front of District Judge William Kissner.Nesquehoning Police Chief Sean Smith said Gonzalez, who also goes by the name "Pretty Money," sold 10 bags of heroin to an informant for $45 on Sept. 24.The exchange took place at the Turkey Hill gas station on Catawissa Street under the surveillance of Nesquehoning officers and County Detective Jeff Aster.A week later the same informant told police she believed Gonzalez was going to be delivering 75 bags of heroin to another person in the Dollar General parking lot on East Catawissa Street.After witnessing the hand-to-hand exchange, police took Gonzalez into custody and seized the heroin and one bag of marijuana.Charges include possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.Gonzalez is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Casimir Kosciolek at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
