Electronics recyclingSummit Hill residents are welcome to participate in a curbside electronics recycling event on Oct. 26.All items are to be placed out on the curb. Items to be taken at this time are: TVs and computers, as well as computer monitors, towers, mouse, keyboard, etc.If any other items besides what is listed are placed out at the curb during the pickup, those items will be left behind.This event is only available to Summit Hill residents.Fall cleanupSummit Hill borough will hold fall cleanup events during the month of October.On Monday, the east side of the town along with Knepper's Trailer Court and East and West White Bear Drive will be picked up. Tuesday will be the regular trash pickup.On Oct. 19, the west side of town along with Laurel Drive and East and West Mountaintop Road will be picked up. Oct. 20 will be the regular trash pickup along with recycling.Items to be picked up include: no more than five tires, tire rims, auto body parts, refrigerators, freezers, vending machines, dehumidifiers, water coolers, heat pumps, washers, dryers and stoves.All items must have all chemicals removed and doors taken off. Freon must be removed from refrigerators, air conditioners etc. and tagged or they will not take them. In addition, up to 10 bags of garbage will be collected.All items must be placed out on the curb the night before. No electronics such as TVs or computers will be picked up.NesquehoningElectronics recyclingNesquehoning is holding a free electronics recycling event from 2-5 p.m. Oct. 15.The event, operated by Responsible Recycling Services, will take place at the borough's recycling bins, located along Locust Street.Items that will be accepted free of charge include: desktop and laptop computers, keyboards and mice, printers, fax machines, floor copiers, cables and cords, telephones and cellphones, calculators and adding machines, UPS battery backups and laptop batteries, toner and ink cartridges, audio visual equipment and plotters, filing cabinets, DVD players and VCRs, gaming systems, stereos and speakers, microwaves and small appliances, metal items, exercise equipment, car batteries (sealed lead acid) and car routers, bed frames and rain spouting, washers and dryers, stoves (ranges) and dishwashers.Additional items can be recycled but include a fee.They are: televisions under 42 inches, $35; wooden cabinet, projection, big-screen televisions, $50; tube-type CRT monitors, $12; LCD monitors, $7; air conditioners, $25; dehumidifiers, $25; refrigerators, $30; and floor freezers, $30. Televisions must be complete. No broken TVs will be accepted.Destruction services are also available for a fee. These include off-site hard drive destruction, $10 per drive; and off-site document destruction, $10 per standard paper size box. Both includes a certificate of destruction.If recycling an item that has a fee, only cash and checks accepted.Checks should be made payable to Responsible Recycling Services or RRS.
