Gov. Milton Shapp told more than 200 people at a Carbon County Democratic dinner rally he wants to go down as the governor of Pennsylvania "who brought senior citizens the benefits they so richly deserve."
The event was held at the Mahoning Valley Country Club. Also speaking were Congressman Daniel J. Flood; Peter J. Flaherty, mayor of Pittsburgh and the Democratic Party's nominee for a U.S. Senate seat; and Thomas McCall, Summit Hill, Democratic nominee for the Carbon County assemblyman.George Demetriades, former Lansford mayor, was the master of ceremonies.
