Kidder Township adds potential tax increase to ballot
At Thursday night’s supervisor’s meeting, the board agreed to put a potential change to funding the Lake Harmony Rescue Squad to a popular vote.According to Chairman, Thomas Bradley, Lake Harmony Rescue Squad had been considering the possibility of cutting overnight shifts to save money.“They approached us with the question and we agreed to make it a ballot question and leave it up to the voters,” said Bradley. The question on the ballot will ask residents to consider increasing the Ambulance Tax from 0.5 mills to 1.3 mills. In exchange for the increase, the yearly subscription fee for residents will be eliminated. The increase in the tax will result in a net increase to the squad of $160,000 per year.During the meeting the supervisors also agreed to adopt the recently advertised Floodplain Ordinance, and the Pipeline Ordinance as well. Anyone who did not have a chance to review the ordinances can find them online on the township’s website.Bills were paid in the amount of $120,522.70. Of that approximately $33,000 was for ongoing building remolding.— Judy Dolgos-Kramer
