Beware of zombies at Run or Rot Challenge

Get ready, get set, now run for your life - it's Carbon Adventure Racing's Run or Rot Challenge at Country Junction, 6565 Interchange Road in Lehighton, where humans will take on 3 miles and six obstacles Saturday morning while trying to hold on to their three "vital organ" flags as zombies work to tear them away.

The goal is to make it through the challenging course with at least one flag intact. It won't be easy as the race takes challengers through the haunted Waldorf Hotel before reaching the finish line.Twenty volunteers will help with the race, including staff from Country Junction and the Waldorf Estate of Fear. The race's first start time is at 9 a.m.To register for the race as the undead, participants must be on site an hour and a half before start time in their zombie attire. Zombies will receive a Run or Rot T-shirt along with zombie-style makeup from the makeup artists of the Waldorf Estate of Fear.Registration cost to catch human prey is $25 online and $30 day of race. To register as a hopeful survivor, the cost ranges from $65 to $55. Humans will also receive a Run or Rot T-shirt.There will be free parking and a small post-race party with light snacks at the end of the event.The race is to raise money for Justin's Fight, a charity formed for 5-year-old Justin, who lived with a rare form of brain cancer.
