The rededication of the Firemen's Drinking Fountain/Statue took place on Main Street in the Borough of Slatington, in observance of the 100th anniversary of the statue.
Rep. Julie Harhart, one of the speakers, said the statue is a memorial to firemen everywhere. She thanked Hose Co. No. 1 for providing many years of service to the community.The statue, originally dedicated on April 10, 1910, was of a fireman holding a child. It stands for service, vigilance and humanity and is listed on the National Register of Historic Landmarks.
