Former Penn Forest man charged with homicide

Police have charged a suspect in connection with the homicide of a man whose body was found in Penn Forest Township on Sunday.

Eleazar Yisrael, who previously lived in Penn Forest Township, was arraigned on charges Wednesday afternoon.Police say Yisrael is responsible for the murder of Samuel Vacante, whose body was found Sunday in a tent near the Towamensing Trails community in Penn Forest Township.According to court documents, police say Yisrael shot Vacante at his home in Butler Township, Luzerne County. He then traveled to Carbon County in the victim's vehicle, where he allegedly disposed of Vacante's body, and his cell phone.Vacante's vehicle was discovered back in Hazleton. Police started investigating the case after Vacante's ex-wife reported him missing.According to court documents, Yisrael had been in a two-year relationship with Vacante's ex-wife, a relationship which caused the couple's divorce.But Yisrael apparently kept her in the dark about his plans to kill Vacante.Yisrael has been charged with criminal homicide, burglary, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.
