Nearly 100 people were cited as a result of roving and stationary DUI patrols undertaken by state police at Lehighton Friday night.
The patrols took place on various roads in Carbon and Monroe counties.Police said that as a result of the patrols, seven motorists were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.Six people were arrested, but released after they passed field sobriety tests.Eighty-six citations were issued.Two people were arrested for possession of a controlled substance. One fled police and was charged with felony fleeing and eluding while DUI.Fifty-seven traffic warnings were issued.A stationary checkpoint was in effect until the flow of traffic made it impractical to remain in operation.
