A Lehighton man has been arrested on multiple counts of forgery.
The Northeastern Pennsylvania Insurance Fraud Task Force advised the arrest of Alfonso Joseph Sebia, 63, of 305 Mill Road.Sebia is the owner and president of America Coast to Coast Business Solutions LLC, 105 Carbon St., Weatherly.The business is a professional employee organization that provides businesses with payroll services, payroll taxes and Workers' Compensation Insurance.The arrest is the result of an investigation of America Coast to Coast reportedly failing to provide Workers' Compensation Insurance to Mac Sign Systems, 232 S. Sherman Ave., Scranton.Although the coverage was not provided, American Coast to Coast continued to bill Mac Sign Systems for Workers' Compensation Insurance. America Coast to Coast then issued forged Acord certificates of insurance to Mac Sign Systems.During the period of July 15, 2014, through Dec. 27, 2014, America Coast to Coast billed Mac Sign Systems $7,112.38 for Workers' Compensation Insurance premiums for which they never provided coverage.During the same time period, America Coast to Coast provided Mac Sign Systems with 23 forged Acord certificates of insurance.Sebia was charged with one count of insurance fraud, 23 counts of forgery and one count of theft by failure to make required disposition of funds received.He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Terrance V. Gallagher and released on $20,000 unsecured bail.A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 14 at Lackawanna County Central Court.It is believed that America Coast to Coast might have entered into contracts to provide Workers' Compensation Insurance for other businesses, and failed to provide them coverage as well.Anyone with information concerning this investigation is asked to call the Northeastern Pennsylvania Insurance Fraud Task Force at 570-963-5177.
