Supervisors for Eldred Township will meet at 7:30 p.m. today at the municipal building in Kunkletown.Home AssociationThe West End Home Association for West End Memorial Post 927 is scheduled to meet at 7:30 p.m.Band parentsPleasant Valley Band Parents will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the high school band room.All Pleasant Valley schools will be closed Friday and Monday, Labor Day.Legion meetingThe American Legion Post 927 is slated to meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.Monroe SeniorsThe Chestnuthill group of the Monroe County Seniors will gather on Friday and again next Wednesday at Zion Lutheran's Parish Hall in Brodheadsville. The doors open at 9 a.m. The menu for lunch Friday is Swiss steak and next Wednesday it is a cheeseburger.Next Wednesday, a special presentation on legumes (Eat your Beans) will be presented at 11 a.m. Free blood pressure readings will be taken that day by Allen Lear Home Care.Butterfly presentationA monarch butterfly presentation will be given from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Eldred Township Community Center in Kunkletown by Shirley and Jane Kuehner. Refreshments will be offered.On Tuesday pinocle will be led at 9 a.m. by Shirley Kuehner.Church campingPleasant Valley Assembly of God, Brodheadsville, invites its families Sunday for a picnic and movie night beginning at 6:30 p.m. The church will provide the dinner and participants can bring a dessert and snacks.It is to be a great time of fellowship.Participants are reminded to bring lawn chair and/or picnic blanket.Also, those who would like to camp over night, should RSVP to Olga Schillinger, church administrator, as soon as possible and no later than Thursday.Folks will need to provide their own tent and camping equipment. Set up will take place at 4:30 in the afternoon.Dog adoption daySafe Haven Pet Rescue will hold a dog adoption day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Ace Hardware, Route 209, Brodheadsville (next to Dunkelberger's).Many young dogs available will be available for meeting and getting to know.Safe Haven does require a pre-adoption application with references and a home visit before adoption.Volunteers are needed to help with adoption days, fundraising, transporting dogs to vets and groomers and fostering homeless dogs until they find their forever homes.For more information about Safe Haven, and to find a list of dogs available for adoption and adoption applications, please visit
