Meet the Teacher Night at Weatherly Area Elementary School will be held on Thursday.

Parents are invited to come and meet their child's teachers and learn the objectives for the school year. Some of the topics to be covered include curriculum, daily schedule, discipline, safe school procedures, student expectations, grading and homework. Also, you will hear about scheduling a parent-teacher conference and state standards and state assessment.Parents of first-grade students are invited to meet in the child's classroom for 30 minutes from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Second-grade parents are able to meet the teacher between 6:40 and 7:10 p.m. in the classroom.At 6 p.m. third-grade parents are asked to meet the teachers in the middle school large group instruction room. This session ends at 6:30. The fourth-grade parents will meet the teachers in the MS LGI from 6:40 to 7:10 p.m. Fifth-grade parents are invited to the session that begins at 7:20 and ends at 7:50 in the MS LGI.Encore teachers and various administrators will be available from 6 to 7:30 p.m.Elementary/Middle School Principal Sandra Slavick will also be available that evening to meet parents.For a donation of $2 per child, the PTA will provide child-sitting for children ages 4-11. A parent must sign the child in at the middle school lobby and sign them out again as they leave.Please call PTA President Donnell Stump at 570-579-8801 by Tuesday to register your child so that enough help is available.Please enter through the middle school doors. Parking will be open in the rear lot. Doors will open at 5:45 p.m. Do not take children into the classroom or LGI with you.Remember that these sessions are not for parent-teacher conferences. Dates will be available in November to schedule parent-teacher conferences.In addition to meeting teachers and signing up for PTA, a variety of other organizations will be present offering an opportunity to register for girl scouts,Cub Scouts, biddy basketball or to get information on Wrecker Booster Club and the Weatherly Music Parents to name a few.The middle school Meet the Teacher Night will be held Sept. 10, and the high school Meet the Teacher Night will be held Sept. 15.PTA membership dues are $7 per person. Membership applications will be available at all meet the teacher events.Homeroom parents will be selected for kindergarten through fifth-grade classrooms from among those who have completed the membership application and indicated a willingness to serve as a homeroom parent by the Sept. 30 deadline.
