One seriously injured in motorcycle crash

The passenger on a motorcycle was seriously injured in a crash with a pickup on Saturday outside Tamaqua.

State police at Frackville said the crash occurred at 5:16 p.m. along Catawissa Road in front of Heisler's Dairy Bar in Walker Township.Troopers said Justin Wolfe, 24, of Schuylkill Haven, was operating a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle and exiting a parking lot at the dairy bar to turn left to go northbound while Paul Matsago, 36, of Tamaqua, driving a 2006 Ford F-350 pickup was southbound. Troopers said Wolfe failed to see the pickup truck in the straightaway and turned in front of Matsago. The front passenger side of the truck impacted with the bike in the middle of the road.A passenger with Wolfe, Amanda Nastas, 22, of Schuylkill Haven, was seriously injured and flown by Medevac helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.Wolfe sustained moderate injuries but refused medical treatment and Matsago was not injured.Assisting troopers at the scene were volunteers from the Tamaqua Rescue Squad, New Ringgold and Walker Township fire companies, and medical unit from New Ringgold. The investigation into the crash is continuing, troopers added.
