A Carbon County man was jailed on Tuesday after he struggled with state police as they attempted to serve an arrest warrant on him.
Eric Christopher Cardone, 35, of 105 Homestead Lane, Towamensing Township, is facing a felony charge of aggravated assault and misdemeanor counts of simple assault, resisting arrest, institutional vandalism and disorderly conduct.According to the police report about 5:30 p.m. troopers Michael Sofranko, Gary Fedor and Nicholas Fiorey attempted to serve a bench warrant on Cardone issued out of Monroe County for possession of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana and driving under the influence.While being taken into custody, Cardone resisted, attempting to kick the three troopers several times and attempting to bite Sofranko. He then caused damages to the inside of a marked state police cruiser by attempting to kick and head-butt the rear passenger side window.Cardone was arraigned before on-call District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton and committed to the county prison in Nesquehoning after failing to post $250,000 bail.
