Man enters plea after DUI crash

A Monroe County man, who fled a crash scene but was later found hiding behind a tree in nearby woods, entered a guilty plea to driving under the influence on Tuesday in Carbon County court.

He was one of 10 defendants to enter a plea to drunken driving before Judge Joseph J. Matika.Daryl James Wolfe, 38, of Effort, was arrested on Dec. 11, 2014, along Route 940 in Kidder Township.Township police responded to a reported accident with rollover. On scene the officers found the vehicle but no driver.A search of nearby woods found Wolfe hiding behind a tree. He was arrested and taken for a blood test, which revealed a 0.30 BAC.A second offense, with a crash, means Wolfe is facing a mandatory jail term.Matika deferred sentencing so Wolfe could obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation and also apply for the county's Intermediate Punishment Program-house arrest.
