Silberline gives $10K to Tamaqua Salvation Army

Silberline Manufacturing Company of Tamaqua has donated $10,000 to the Tamaqua Salvation Army to boost proceeds from a recent family-oriented special event.

The check presentation took place Friday at Salvation Army headquarters, 105 W. Broad St., and represented a matching grant for funds raised by the recent Kidz Karnival in downtown Tamaqua."We are beyond grateful for the outpouring of community support and Silberline's generous matching grant," Major Sharon Whispell said."The money raised will allow us to continue aiding senior citizens, youth, families and victims of disaster who come to The Salvation Army for quality care in times of need."Following the presentation, Lisa Scheller, president and chief executive officer of Silberline Manufacturing, reflected on her local roots and the local roots of her family business."This community helped to make my family and me successful," she said.The matching grant was a way to demonstrate gratitude and give back to her hometown area.The Salvation Army also thanked the community for generously supporting Kidz Karnival, a family-centered event held Aug. 4.The lively event helped to demonstrate the Salvation Army's commitment to the community, giving children and their families an enjoyable summer celebration.The fun activity featured carnival rides, games, food and a tour of the Salvation Army's Emergency Response Canteen Truck.The evening coincided with "Dear Tamaqua" and National Night Out's local festivities in Tamaqua.The Salvation Army was hoping to raise more than $10,000, funding needed to support its local programs and services.This year's event far surpassed that goal, tallying $15,242.Silberline Manufacturing's commitment to match up to $10,000 brings the final total to $25,242, the highest amount to date for the Kidz Karnival activity.
