Kidder Township has written an ordinance to deal directly and proactively with the proposed transmission pipeline which is being considered by PennEast.
The Penn East pipeline route is not yet finalized, but if it receives approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the pipeline will cut right through Kidder Township. The pipeline will enter Kidder Township over Jack Frost Mountain and proceed across Route 940, Route 80 and run along Hickory Run State Park before entering Penn Forest Township. In a letter to the Kidder Board of Supervisors, the Carbon County Planning Commission recommended approval of the ordinance and praised Kidder Township for its proactive stance."We are trying to do the best that we can to control what we can," said Vice Chairman Larry Polansky. "We probably can't stop it, but we can try to control the impact where we can."The supervisors voted to advertise the ordinance.
