3 plead guilty in DUI cases
Three defendants in driving under the influence cases entered guilty pleas in Carbon County court on Tuesday.
President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II accepted the pleas from the following:Jason S. Evans, 41, of Lansford, was arrested on Feb. 21 along Route 902 by Summit Hill police. A test showed 0.15 BAC.He also pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia for an incident also on Feb. 21 by Lansford police.After his car struck a guard rail in Summit Hill he fled on foot. Police ran the registration on the vehicle. Lansford police went to Evans' home at the request of Summit Hill police. While taking him into custody for the DUI incident drug paraphernalia was found.On the DUI count Nanovic placed him on probation for six months and ordered he pay a fine of $300 and zero tolerance imposed on drug and alcohol use.On the possession count he was placed on probation for a year, consecutive to the DUI charge.Sean Patrick Alboucq, 27, of Lehighton, was arrested on April 19 by Mahoning Township police along Route 443.Alboucq was uncooperative with officers. He was taken to the Lehighton hospital for a blood test, which he refused and caused a disturbance. He was then charged with persistent disorderly conduct, which he also pleaded to.Nanovic deferred sentencing so Alboucq could obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation and apply for placement in the county's Intermediate Punishment Program.Louie Donald Scrivanich, 34, of Nesquehoning, was arrested on Feb. 3 along Route 209 by Nesquehoning police. A test showed 0.36 BAC.Nanovic sentenced him to serve 30 days to six months in jail, a fine of $750 and a one-year license suspension.He was given credit for 28 days spent in an inpatient rehab facility. He will serve the remaining two days on consecutive Sundays at starting 4 p.m. on Sept. 20 and 27.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
