Christine Donohue, Democratic candidate for state supreme court justice made a stop in Jim Thorpe on Thursday morning.
"I love coming home to Carbon County," Donohue said. "I am counting on the people of my home county to get out to the polls this November and help me to win this election."Donohue was born in Coaldale and grew up in Lansford. The daughter of a union seamstress and a coal miner, Donohue learned the value of working hard to get ahead."We always want something better for our children, and I am proof of that," she said. "My parents worked hard and made sure I got a good education, they taught me to work hard, too."Donohue attended St. Peter and Paul's Elementary School and graduated from Marian Catholic High School.She graduated from East Stroudsburg State College with both undergraduate and graduate degrees in political science and eventually enrolled in law school in Pittsburgh.Donohue spent 27 years as a trial lawyer and was admitted to practice before every court on the state and federal level.She has served as a judge in the Superior Court since 2007."I have either tried or presided over every possible type of trial," Donohue said.Donohue currently lives in Pittsburgh, where she has worked for the majority of her legal career.
