Probation ordered in Schuylkill cases

Schuylkill County Judge Jacqueline L. Russell has sentenced six people to probation after they were charged by local police.

Megan Hill, 25, of Coaldale: Charged with retail theft by Tamaqua police after an incident on Nov. 13, 2012. Russell sentenced her to 12 months of probation and 20 hours of community service. She also ordered Hill to continue with drug treatment, and pay court costs and fees.In a separate case, Hill was charged by Rush Township police with retail theft and receiving stolen property after an incident on Sept. 7, 2014.The receiving charge was dropped in plea negotiations. Russell sentenced her to 11 months on probation, to pay $695.70 in restitution to Walmart, perform 20 hours of community service, and to pay court costs and fees.Justin Boyer, 25, of New Ringgold: Charged by West Penn Township police with fleeing/eluding police, reckless driving, following too closely, unlawful operations, operating a vehicle on the street, operating an all-terrain vehicle in a reckless way, operating an all-terrain vehicle in a careless way, operating an ATV while not wearing a helmet, not having ATV insurance, and operating an ATV without financial responsibility.Russell fined Boyer $180 and placed him on probation for two years on the charge of fleeing. He must also pay court costs and fees.Russell also fined him $300 each on the charges of failing to have insurance and operating an ATV without financial responsibility. She also fined him $200 for reckless driving, and $25 each for following too closely, unlawfully operating an ATV and operating it on the street, operating an ATV in a careless way, and not wearing a helmet.Jason Hill, 25, of New Ringgold: Charged by Rush Township police with theft by deception and receiving stolen property after an incident on March 20, 2014. The receiving charge was dropped in plea negotiations.Russell sentenced Hill to pay $57.95 restitution to Walmart and placed him on probation for 12 months. He must also perform 20 hours of community service and pay court costs and fees.Brian Danchak, 43, of Coaldale: Charged by Coaldale police with terroristic threats and disorderly conduct after an incident on Aug. 25, 2014.The disorderly conduct charge was dropped in plea negotiations. Russell sentenced him to 18 months on probation, 20 hours of community service, and to pay court costs and fees.David Forte, 37, of Hazleton: Charged by Rush Township police with theft by deception, receiving stolen property and disorderly conduct after an incident on Aug. 8, 2014. The receiving and disorderly conduct charges were dropped in plea negotiations.Russell sentenced him to pay $3,900 in restitution to the victim, serve 12 months probation, and perform 20 hours of community service. He must also pay court costs and fees.Lori Horne, 51, of Tamaqua: Charged by Tamaqua police with criminal conspiracy, theft of services, and receiving stolen property after an incident on July 24, 2014.The charges of criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property were dropped in plea negotiations.Russell sentenced her to 12 months on probation, and to perform 20 hours of community service. Horne must also pay court costs and fees.
