Recordings not allowed at zoning hearing

A Channel 13 reporter and cameraman were noticably surprised to be told they couldn't record the proceedings at the Rush Township Zoning Hearing Board meeting Tuesday.

Solicitor Bill Burke told them that according to a recent court ruling, zoning hearing board meetings and other court proceedings may not be taped. Township meetings may be recorded, but not zoning hearing board hearings, he said."Only one record can be maintained," Burke said. "This is not a township meeting, it's a court proceeding."Burke apologized to the two journalists."I'm not doing this to make your job difficult," he said. "I'm an officer of the court, and have to follow procedure."
