Three face charges in burglary

Three people face charges after a Lansford woman told police they burglarized her home because she owed them drug money.

Edward Rivera Jr., 30, of Tamaqua; Felicia Urbanski, 27, of Lansford; and Charles Grant, 47, no address given, all face charges of burglary, conspiracy, theft and receiving stolen property after an incident on Dec. 4, 2014, at 9 E. Abbott St.The charges were filed June 18 with District Judge Casimir Kosciolek of Lansford.According to a criminal complaint filed by Lansford patrolman Joshua Tom, here's what happened:At 2:45 p.m. Dec. 4, 2014, a woman named Amy Burns told Tom her house had been burglarized. She said that she owed Rivera $90 for an up-front drug purchase for her and a friend from the night before.Burns told Tom she went to the home of a borough resident, where she met with Rivera, Urbanski and Grant, who is also known as "Infinity." Rivera wanted his money, and Burns said she would sell back Christmas presents to get it for him.Burns told Tom she left town at about 2 p.m. for about 30 minutes to do that while her husband, who knew nothing of the situation, was at work.Burns admitted leaving her front door unlocked when she left the house. As she arrived back home, she saw a black PT Cruiser pulling away. She found her house ransacked and several items missing. She told Tom that no one had permission to be in there or to take anything belonging to her, her husband or children.Burns told Tom she knew it must have been Rivera, Urbanski and Grant because they knew when she would be gone.Tom spoke with Rivera and Urbanski. Rivera said Burns gave him permission to enter her home to take items he thought would equal the amount of money she owed him. He admitted taking a 55-inch TV, and that Grant helped him carry it out of the house. Rivera said he took the TV to Philadelphia.Urbanski said she had nothing to do with the incident, and did not say anything else.Tom also spoke with the man at whose home the four met, and who appeared to be a neutral party between Burns and the three defendants. He told Tom all the stated facts were true, except that Burns never gave Rivera, Urbanski and Grant permission to enter her home or take anything from it.The man said the three planned the burglary while at his house. He told Tom they left his house to go to Burns', and that Urbanski was the driver and lookout. The three then returned to his house with food, iPads, the TV and jewelry, Brossman told Tom.The man said he told them he wanted no part of their actions and to leave. He told Tom that Rivera and Urbanski took the stolen items to Philadelphia, and that all three left the area after the burglary. There is no record of Burns being charged with drug offenses.
