Man faces charges for hurting boy

A Lansford man faces charges after his girlfriend's young son called police when the man grabbed him by the throat and slapped his face.

Joshua Plocinik, 27, of 14 E. Kline Ave., was charged with endangering the welfare of children, simple assault and harassment.According to a criminal complaint filed by borough officer Jeffrey J. Tanner, at about 6 p.m. June 2, he was dispatched to the couple's home, where he spoke with the boy's mother, Plocinik and the boy.Plocinik was the 8-year-old's caregiver, and that evening he and the child argued over a game the boy and other children were playing. Plocinik told the boy he was grounded, grabbed him by the throat and took him upstairs.There, he slapped the child on the left side of his face.Tanner saw red marks on the child's neck and face, and Plocinik admitted to hurting the child.He spoke with the boy, who told him he was afraid of more physical abuse because he had called police.
