Abbott St. on a report of an assault. The Carbon county 911 center dispatcher said the victim had been assaulted with a machete and pepper spray, and required medical attention.Helmer talked to the victim, Robert Clifford III, as soon as he got there. Clifford, covered in blood and with visible injuries to his head, back, left arm and both hands, was waiting for emergency medical services. He told Helmer he had been asleep in his bedroom in the basement when he was jolted awake by a strike in the head with what he believed to be a metal object. He saw a Caucasian man and woman in the room, and said he knew the man, Fischer. He recognized the woman, but only knew her as "Risa." She was later identified as Becker.Clifford said Fischer sprayed him in the face with pepper spray when he tried to get up. they struggled, and Becker hit him again in the head and on the back with the metal pipe. Fischer grabbed a machete and swung it at Clifford's head. Clifford grabbed the machete and Fischer pulled it away, deeply cutting Clifford's hands.Clifford pushed the two away and yelled for his parents to help. Fischer and Becker ran off with Clifford's 16 gigabyte iPhone 4S.Helmer spoke with Clifford's parents, Robert Clifford Jr. and Catherine Clifford, who were home at the time. Catherine told Helmer she awakened to a disturbance and found her son with injuries.Helmer saw signs of forced entry and damage to a front basement door, and fresh blood in the basement leading to the second floor.Clifford III was taken to St. Lukes Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale, for treatment of his injuries.A security camera at the Cliffords' home showed Becker and Fischer arriving on foot at 4:18 a.m., looking around and appearing suspicious. At 4: 23 a.m., Becker is seen at the basement door, a long object in her hands, as Fischer is running at the door, trying to force it open.At 7 a.m. June 23, Becker agreed to come to the police station. QA check of her bag revealed drug paraphernalia and prescription medication not prescribed to her. It also contained Clifford's iPhone. She admitted to being an acquaintance of Fischer's, but refused to provide a written statement, and said drug use made it difficult for her to remember dates and events. She invoked her right to remain silent. When Helmer told her she was being arrested for the incident at the Cliffords house, she said "Since I'm being arrested for this, are they getting arrested for selling dope? She also said, "Tell my Dad I did not steal his knife. That was not the knife that was in that guy's house."
