Mathew Szuchyt, representative for new District 16 state Sen. Patrick Browne, arrived at Slatington's monthly borough meeting to extend a hello and offer the senator's help to the borough.
After his greeting he asked if Browne could do anything for the area. The council members were ready with two answers, both regarding repairs that must be taken care of."The General Morgan Bridge needs to be fixed," council President Gwyneth Jones said. "The crash barriers on each end need to be replaced."The bridge is a state-owned bridge. The second repair in need of a lot of attention is Shadow Oaks Lane. The Northern Lehigh School District building and Slatington Elementary building are on Shadow Oaks Lane, and the area in front of these buildings needs the attention. The grant application paper work has already been submitted, according to council.Szuchyt told the board he would pass the information along and see if Browne could write a recommendation letter to help the process.
