A three-man board of viewers named by Carbon County Judge Albert Heimbach announced a $300,000 award in favor of the Lehighton Water Authority by reason of condemnation and acquisition of approximately 59 acres of land owned by the authority in Penn Forest and Franklin townships.

The defendant is the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, which seized the land under its right of eminent domain as part of its plan to construct the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.Attorneys George A. Shutack and John P. Lavelle represented the authority in the proceeding.
