Since its inception two years ago, Palmerton's Christmas in the Park event has lived up to its billing and then some.
But organizers of the event can only do so much, and say they are in need of more assistance and fresh concepts. The Christmas in the Park committee will hold an open meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at Palmerton Borough Hall.New people bring new ideas, committee chairwoman Michele O'Neill said."The Christmas in the Park group would like the community to know we are always looking for new help and new ideas," O'Neill said. "This meeting is to invite anyone who would like to help us out or find out what we are about."O'Neill said the third annual Christmas in the Park event is tentatively scheduled to be held from noon to 5 p.m. Dec. 5. The rain date is Dec. 6.Last year's event was sponsored by the Aquashicola and Palmerton fire departments, as well as the Palmerton Pool Pals.It featured Christmas carols, wagon rides and 68 beautifully lit trees. The event debuted in 2013 in the borough and featured 48 decorated trees from members of the community. For more information, contact O'Neill at 610-737-4503.
