Work to begin on Route 715 bridge

The Route 715 bridge in Chestnuthill Township will close where it crosses McMichaels Creek for rebuilding, with an anticipated start the week of July 13.

The bridge was originally built in 1939 and averages 5,127 vehicles a day. Once the closure occurs, all Route 715 traffic will detour to Route 115 and Effort Neola Road (Route 3018).The work is scheduled to be complete in mid-September.The bridge replacement is part of the Rapid Bridge Replacement Project, a public-private partnership (P3) between PennDOT and Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners under which PWKP will finance, design, replace and maintain the bridges for 25 years. As part of PWKP, Walsh/Granite JV will oversee construction. The P3 approach will allow PennDOT to replace the bridges more quickly while achieving significant savings and minimizing impact on motorists.
