On May 13, Lansford Borough Council contracted with the firm of Powell, Rogers and Speaks, through the company's Municipality Early Intervention Delinquent Collection Program, to collect delinquent sewer accounts.
Sewer bills are sent out quarterly, in January, April, July and October. The quarterly fee is $55. If the account is paid before or on the last day of the month of the billing date, a discount of 2 percent is allowed. All accounts will be considered delinquent if not paid by or on the 13th day of the month that follows the billing date (Feb. 13, May 13, Aug. 13 and Nov. 13). Delinquent accounts are subject to a penalty of 20 percent of the amount of the bill.Sanitation Accounts that are 90 days past due at the end of a single quarterly billing cycle (such as April's) are now being sent to Powell, Rogers and Speaks for collection. The first group of delinquent accounts was sent on June 29. Affected residents will be responsible to make payment directly to Powell, Rogers and Speaks for that portion of their bill, which has been removed from their quarterly bill amount for the July-September billing quarter. If the account is delinquent beyond 90 days from the date of the billing date, it will be sent to Powell, Rogers and Speaks for collection.Anyone with questions about their sanitation account may call the borough office at 570-645-3900.
