Sgt. Joseph McIlvaine, head of the Lehighton barracks of the Pennsylvania State Police, has been promoted to the rank of first sergeant and will assume an administrative post at the troop headquarters in Hazleton. He has been at the Lehighton headquarters since 1940.

He is married to the former Margaret Lawler of Philadelphia, and they are the parents of two children, Joseph Jr. and Paul.Sgt. McIlvaine will be succeeded by Corporal Thomas Barclay, who has been at the Lehighton post for the past year.
