Our area saw the worst of a storm that dumped 3.23 inches of rain on Lehighton and 4.1 inches in Tamaqua, according to AccuWeather.
"That was a very impressive storm that rolled through," Tom Kines, a meteorologist with AccuWeather, said. "There was visible rotation spotted on the radar that could have been tornadoes, but no confirmation."Several funnel clouds were reported just above Allentown.Lindsey McLaughlin of Nesquehoning took a photo of a cloud formation resembling a large funnel while traveling north on Route 145 near Walnutport around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday."If there was a tornado, that's most likely where it was," Kines said.The brunt of the storm hit during the evening commute. Drivers struggled to get home through blinding rain and high water.Many roads were temporarily closed because of flooding.
