Mahoning Township Police have charged a Franklin Township woman and a Jim Thorpe man in theft incidents earlier this year in the township at the Walmart Superstore in Lehighton.

Brandee Boroznoff, 22, was arrested on charges of retail theft and criminal conspiracy to commit retail theft, both misdemeanor charges, as a result of an incident at 3:58 p.m. April 25.Matteo Puddu, 26, of Jim Thorpe, is facing a misdemeanor charge of criminal conspiracy to commit retail theft as a result of the same incident.Police said it is alleged by the store's loss prevention personnel that the suspects stole five cordless drills and a toaster from the store. The items are valued at $555.33.In addition, Boroznoff has also been charged with criminal attempt, theft by deception, and criminal conspiracy to commit retail theft as a result of another incident at the store.Police said video surveillance of an incident at 5 p.m. April 10 shows her and an unidentified female entering the store, after which time the unidentified female fled with merchandise she did not purchase.During the same incident, Boroznoff was observed selecting merchandise from store shelves that matched a receipt from a previous purchase. She then took the items and receipt to the customer service counter to return them for a fraudulent refund, but fled the store while customer service employees made her wait as they examined the items.Puddu was also arrested by township officers after an incident at 7:44 a.m. March 14.Police said credit cards that had been stolen from a vehicle at Gypsy Hill Gardens in Lehighton were used at the National Penn Bank in the Carbon Plaza Mall in the township.A review of ATM footage identified Puddu as the person using the stolen cards, resulting in him being charged with misdemeanor charges of access device fraud and receiving stolen property.Police said in an interview Matteo stated he does not remember much because he was using heroin. The two defendants are scheduled for preliminary hearings on Aug. 12.
