State Rep. Keith R. McCall, D-Carbon, continued his efforts to persuade the Citizen's Stamp Advisory Committee to issue a commemorative U.S. postage stamp in honor of the coal mining profession.

McCall presented petitions containing several hundred signatures collected from across the state by the Knights of Columbus to the committee, commenting, "Coal miners helped to build America, they were a catalyst for the industrial revolution and even today are helping to build the economy of the 21st Century."Since 1996, McCall has been working to obtain recognition for coal miners through the issuance of the stamp as part of the USPS' "America at Work" series.
