Easton man admits to shoplifting count

An Easton man, already in prison on other theft counts, pleaded guilty on Tuesday in Carbon County court to retail theft.

Glen Joseph Taormina, 28, pleaded to one count of retail theft, admitting to taking $1,812.72 worth of various items from the Walmart store in Mahoning Township.Township police were notified by Whitehall police, who had Taormina in custody following a traffic stop, that in the car they found items stolen from the Walmart store in the township. The incident occurred on Feb. 2. All of the stolen items were recovered.Taormina recently completed a 12-month sentence in the Lehigh County prison for theft and is currently an inmate in the Northampton County prison facing additional charges.Matika deferred sentencing and ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.
