Lehighton council acts on business

Lehighton Borough Council approved several items Monday night.

• Approved the AutoZone development agreement on Route 443, with several conditions.• Approved a request from the Lehighton Ambulance Association to release the budget allocation of $5,000 for the LifePak 15 Cardiac Monitors.• Appointed Keith Schnell to the borough Police Civil Service Commission.• Agreed to advertise for full-time maintenance workers and part-time laborers for the borough's public works department.• Agreed to apply for funding to update the borough zoning ordinance and subdivision and land development ordinance.• Agreed to readvertise the 2015 street project as reviewed/recommended by the borough manager and borough engineer.• Hired Dawn McCabe, Alyssa Matika and Michael Pados as pool staff for the 2015 season (prehiring processes have been completed).• Agreed, on a 6-0 vote, with an abstention from Councilwoman Bessie Bauchspies, to advertise for adoption of an ordinance to vacate the property at Third Avenue and Parkway.• Appointed Chris Schnell to the borough Planning Commission.• Approved the Crusade for the Homeless 5K run/walk July 18.• Approved the Zombie Zoom 5K Run or Stalk to benefit Shull-David fourth-graders.
