Tamaqua Police Chief Robert Neifert told Crime Watch volunteers they deserve credit for a declining crime rate in the borough during the first part of 1982.
The chief said the first four months of the year have been the lowest months in crime during the last four years. He said the Crime Watch was directly responsible for two burglaries in which criminals were caught in the businesses Medicine Shoppe and Dollar Store whereas 14 other arrests have been made because of the volunteers' efforts.As of this date, there were 109 members of the Crime Watch program, ranging in age from 18 to 78.
