Fit or fail? Challenge is on Saturday

The inaugural Dedicated Fit or Fail Challenge won't be just any ordinary run.

The event will be held at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at Country Junction in Lehighton. There is a $30 registration cost up to the day of the event, and a $40 registration fee on the day of the event. The 2.7-mile, 8-obstacle course is designed to challenge men and women of all ages and ability levels, according to 14-year-old race director Jacob Martinez.Jacob describes the challenge as a "one of a kind event that will push you to your limits. If you are up for a challenge, you better show up."It will feature obstacles and drill stations that will take participants in the woods, at boot camp, and in the fields. The course was designed by Jacob, as well as Kerri Jahelka, owner of Dedicated Fitness in Palmerton.Jahelka describes the challenges as completely unique to the event and unlike any other obstacle race in the region. Each station, created by Jahelka, has a prescribed set of exercises and challenges. In addition, there is a modified set that can also be chosen, allowing for greater participation by a larger group of people of varying ability levels.Trainers from Dedicated Fitness will staff each of the challenge stations providing instruction and encouragement.Jacob added that, "It is an interesting mix of running and cross training that is completely unique. Now the only question left is whether you will be fit or fail?"Both Jacob and Jahelka will donate a portion of the proceeds from the event to #JustinsFight.Justin, 5, has been diagnosed with a rare brain cancer, Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, an inoperable brain tumor. He is the nephew of Dedicated Fitness trainers Rocco and Kim Seiler. For more information on the event, visit
